Sir,

I have the honour to inform you

that at a meeting of the District Watchmen's Committee

held on the 4th. inst., it was resolved inter alia:-

That in accordance with the recom-

mendation of the Registrar General supported by the Crp-

tain Superintendent of Police, a station' be erected in

the Taipingshan Resumed Area for the accommodation of

the 51 District Watchmen for the Districts Nos.3,4,5, and

6 in lieu of the premises now occupied by them, and two

European sergeants be detached from the Police Force to

live in the Station, as to aid the Committee in exercis-

inge closer supervision over the District Watchmen's

Force.

That the Government be requested to

grant a site in the said area to the east of the Po Leung

Kuk for the erection of the station, to furnish the Com-

mittee with an estimate of the cost of erection of the

station and to bear the cost of the quarters for the

European sergeants.

I beg therefore to request that is

Excellency the Governor may see his way to comply with

the wishes of the Committee.
